kiambani primary school

MAKINDU – KENYA – AFRICA

As we celebrate the holiday season, the Lotus School Foundation is grateful to announce the groundbreaking of Kiambani Primary School. Although the school is on holiday break until January, parents, students, and community members gathered to show their support for this meaningful milestone. Their presence was a beautiful reminder of how deeply this project matters to everyone it will serve in this underserved community.

Founded in 1974, Kiambani Primary School has served Makindu and surrounding communities for decades. Most families in this village survive on less than one dollar a day and have an average of four children. Over the years, enrollment has steadily grown , but the school’s infrastructure has struggled to keep up. Many classrooms are now unsafe , with severe cracks in the walls that pose serious risks to both students and teachers.

Currently, the classrooms have been abandoned because the weakened walls could collapse at any time, putting children’s lives in danger. Storm damage has further weakened the buildings, and the temporary roofing repairs can no longer withstand the harsh weather, leading to ongoing leaks that disrupt learning and put students at risk. Building supplies have been secured and construction will begin this week, with completion anticipated by March 2026. Each step brings us closer to welcoming students into safe, inspiring classrooms built to last.

In response, the Lotus School Foundation is committed to rebuilding five safe and durable classrooms, creating a secure learning environment for 200 students.
The new school project is budgeted at $20,003. We are deeply grateful to our generous sponsors. The five classrooms will be lovingly dedicated in honor of: GDPT Lien Hoa San Antonio, Vivian & Jacky, Khang & Tam, Diep & Arturo, and Truc Vi. Your kindness and generosity have turned hope into action.  Together, we are building more than classrooms—we are building opportunity and a brighter future for children and community.
