The Lotus School Foundation has chosen to reconstruct Huu Khuong School, as harsh winter conditions and strong winds have severely damaged the current wooden building. Located in the most remote area of Nghe An, this school is accessible only by boat, reflecting the challenges faced by this community in one of the largest and most difficult districts. In fact, 86% of the population in this area lives below the poverty line.

Huu Khuong School serves 85 students, all from disadvantaged backgrounds, primarily belonging to the Thai and Khu Mo ethnic groups. With the required permits secured from local authorities, the Lotus School Foundation is moving ahead with the construction of a new concrete facility that will support these students. The total estimated cost for the new school is $18,430, which will cover the construction of three classrooms, a playground, restrooms, and new classroom furniture. Construction is already underway and is expected to be completed by December 2024.
